New Release On The German 'Tasm' Label that comes with a colour inner sleeve with lyrics. The Concrete Gods released a couple of well received albums. 2006’s Anglo Centric Generation and Welcome to the Empire Club in 2009. The Gods’ update of 77 punk and 79 mod revival British street sounds was combined with an almost Monty Python tongue in cheek class rhetoric, especially live when front man Dave Hayman would push out his Cockney chest and bait the crowd. Gigging with Medway garage bands and the likes of 999, long Tall Shorty and Resistance 77, kind of cast them adrift, it being near impossible to gain a foothold as they didn't fit the mould of any cultural tribe. The members of The Gods were generally moonlighting in other bands most of the time and by the time The Angry Brigade single had been recorded and mastered for a 7” release on a US label, the band decided to pack up and move on. Also recorded at the same session at Ranscombe Studio in Medway was Tommy’s Song. Originally titled Help For Heroes and offered to the charity and a fund raiser. Sadly Help For Heroes charity saw no merit in the idea. Now for the first time these songs are getting the release they deserve. Angry Brigade an aggressive yet tuneful punker and Tommy’s Song, well, punky too, but also a clever adaptation of a Rudyard Kipling poem about the British soldiers lot. <<< 150 copies on black vinyl and 100 copies slatter vinyl >>> FEATURES Whatever Happened to the Angry Brigade Tommy's Song Currently unavailable |
