Formed in Wakefield in the mid 70's - Strangeways were probably one of the finest Power-Pop bands ever to walk the earth. The group enjoyed great success in their time, releasing two classic and now ultra-collectable singles and seeing magazines such as ‘Sounds’ raving about them.
The band’s powerful live performances were the stuff of legend up and down the country and Power-Pop fans everywhere loved the band. After a while though it all broke down and the band decided to call it a day after only a couple of years.
We managed to track down the band - and would you believe it - they had a whole load of unreleased tracks and demos that they wanted the Power-Pop fans of today to hear - so here they are, and now, over 20 years later the songs sound just as powerful and well crafted. Featuring both of their classic singles, a load of unreleased tracks including a rare demo track that was produced by ‘Tommy Ramone’ and great cover versions of The Trogg’s ‘Wild Thing’ (re-titled ‘Chose Sauvage’ the french version) and The Archies ‘Sugar Sugar’ - this is an album that any Power-Pop fan would be glad to have in their collection.
