ORIGINAL US RELEASE ON THE 'DEADBEAT' LABEL.
The Gala are one of the finest new bands cruising the fuzz and Farfisa circuit exploring raw 60's and 70's -influenced sounds with their own unique, modern twist. Musically think a swirling kaleidoscope of debauchery and decadence that's part garage-rock, part fuzz-glam and part switchblade rock'n'roll all played with a tough, brooding, riff heavy exterior. On their debut album 'Bad News', the Gala stomp, shout, and bash it on out across 12 rough 'n tumble cuts of organ injected nitro rock. Lead singer Emily Doran opens up her soul diving head-first into a myriad of emotions including heartache, elation, vulnerability and defiance. Add the roaring thunder of screeching guitars, throbbing bass and that warm fuzzy Farfisa action; and you've got a riff rockin' cocktail that pairs well with Emily's energized vocal bravado. Golden, garage, greatness here for fans of the Detroit Cobras, Paybacks, Gore Gore Girls, Demolition Doll Rods, Headcoatees and the Pandoras. The LP jacket is adorned with pukingly awesome cover art by Darren Merinuk and the album includes a digital download card as well.
