Pennytown Sound is proud to announce it’s debut 45 rpm label launch with a 30^th anniversary pressing of Mod Fun’s 1984 debut release “I Am With You” b/w “Happy Feeling”.

First unleashed in May 1984 as a self financed effort by three mod teenagers from Northern New Jersey “I Am With You” was launched on New Records with a pressing of 1,000 copies. These sold out quickly as Mod Fun received a great deal of college radio airplay spearheaded by Princeton University’s WPRB 103.3 which had “I Am With You” in it’s daily rotation for the entire summer. The record received accolades from The Three O’ Clocks “Michael Quercio, Sonic Youth’s Thurston Moore, Jello Biafra (who ordered two copies of the 45 “for his collection”) and even Paul Weller who took the time to write the band after being presented with a copy the single at a Style Council gig in NYC in May 1984. The band built up a large following and a reputation for putting on energetic (and sometimes explosive live shows) throughout New York and New Jersey eventually cementing a large following as far as Washington D.C. and California (the latter cemented after dates in their one and only national tour in the spring of 1986). In July 1986 the band called it a day after 4 years only to reform in 1987 for a European Tour with fellow garage evangelists The Miracle Workers and Thee Fourgiven. The band have reformed sporadically starting in 2004 and continue to do so when the mood hits them.

Pennytown Sound brings you “I Am With You” and it’s flipside “Happy Feeling” direct from the original analog master tapes, baked at 130 degrees Fahrenheit for 5 hours to restore both tracks to their original pristine raw, garage-punk sound. “I Am With You” was issued on Get Hip’s 1994 Mod Fun CD retrospective “Past Forward” and has recently been chosen by Cherry Red to appear on their forthcoming 4 CD mod box set “Millions Like Us: The Story Of The Mod Revival”. “Happy Feeling” sees its very first reissue ever here through us.
