‘The Lost 45s (UK)’ The Lost 45’s are from Leeds, in Yorkshire UK. They are cool with a capital ‘C’. This beat combo are not afraid to wear their influences on their (record) sleeves. They have strong Mod roots and are a powerful live combo. The bassist, guitarist and keyboard player all sing and bring something quite individual and special to the 45's make up. Imagine a supergroup featuring Paul Weller, Paul McCartney and Brian Auger! It's one of the best attacking line ups outside the Premiership. ‘The Marksmen!’ Not known as the creative centre of Norwich, with one pub, a convenience store and one hundred yards between them, Silver Hill is home to The Marksmen. Reputations from former bands led them to meet and in 2004 their individual styles and sounds came together and ideas and songs weren't far behind. What they produce is a combination of powerful vocals, frenetic organ playing, smooth funky bass lines and emphatic drumming, which is all brought together by perfectly timed guitar riffs. What will strike you is that all five elements of the band have equal importance in creating the music.
The band's effort, enthusiasm and obvious enjoyment of playing live, creates an infectious party atmosphere. This has deservedly led to an ever-increasing loyal and passionate following! In January 2005, they completed their first set of recordings at Toerag Studios in London .
The Marksmen have got an exciting summer ahead, which sees the release of this debut EP on Biff Bang Pow Records. The band are also looking forward to their heavy schedule of gigs, which will see them playing to many new audiences in venues around the country.

‘Speakeasy!’ What happens when you take 5 legendary musicians spanning 4 different eras of Mod history, and lock them in the infamous Toe Rag Studios for 2 days?
Well that’s exactly what Biff! Bang! Pow! Records have done with Mike Evans (The Action/Mighty Baby), bass player of possibly the coolest band of the 60’s, drummer Buddy Ascott (The Chords/Pope) & guitarist Simon Stebbing (The Purple Hearts/RT4) who were both at the forefront of the 1979 Mod Revival, & vocalist Mark Le Gallez (The Risk/Thee Jenerators) & also Hammond Player/Vocalist Fay Hallam (Makin’ Time/The Fay Hallam Trinity), who were both icons of the mid-80’s scene. All 5 are still happily playing on todays’ scene.
On top of that we then asked Simon, Mark & Fay to bring a self-penned number to the studio, and then we locked the door for 2 days. And what you’re hearing on this disc, ‘Speakeasy!’ – the ToeRag sessions, is the result of what happened over the weekend of 21/22 January 2006. 5 musicians covering 4 eras of the scene interpreting 3 very different songs in 2 days in the 1 and only Toe Rag Studio in London!

‘Shake!’ is a 17 song compilation featuring a shed load of great bands  - from Tom Hingley & The Lovers (ex-Inspiral Carpets & The Fall) to The Solarflares (descendents of the legendary Medway garage band, The Prisoners), from The Gene Drayton Unit (Hammond & Horns combo with a residency at London's 100 Club) to New York's finest, the groove just continues. Established acts from the Modern World, such as Long Tall Shorty, Small World, The Threads, Yeh-Yeh, Yellowcayke and The Risk are joined by top bands from the "live" circuit, 17 Black and The Golden Hour, and the exciting new talents of Archive45, Face, J60 and The Points. Packed full of enthusiasm, song writing talent and a wealth of gigging experience, this collection of artists show the awesome sound that is still prevalent in the underground purveyed to the switched on set. Made by the scene and for the scene.

‘Shimmy!’ THE long awaited third in the trilogy of compilations from Biff Bang Pow that highlights their "Modernist Music For Today" has just been released. "Shimmy" follows the other two spectacular compilations, "Shout" & "Shake" with a further 20 tracks mixing the various styles and moods that's encompassed in the "Mod" music scene of today. From the starting beat to the finishing note, you know you've got the music with the quality, style & sharpness of the suit or the dress that you wear!

Mark Joseph opens up the proceedings with the kickin` number, "Get Back Sally", followed by "Stand Up" by The Fay Hallam Trinity, another quality number is, "Goodbye Tuesday" by Adrian Holder, let`s have a little Hammond Jazz with, "Back In The Chicken Shack" by Getaway, "Before The Night" by The RT4, superb revival-esque style, "Shake Some Action" by Thee Jenerators, Mark Le Gallez & Co with a top garage fuelled number, crackin` funky soul beat with "Out Of The Blue" by The Soul City Experience, one of my top picks, "What The Papers Say", another brilliant tune by the Mod stalwarts, Yeh Yeh, Aussie Modsters, Green Circles excellent offering, "Brown House In Stepney", proving the land downunder is as cool as us Brits!, "Thursday Friday Saturday Sunday", another quality track from one of BBP`s newest signings, The Lost 45`s, swinging 60`s influenced R&B, "She`s Arrived" by The Impact Four, just gotta be my pick of the CD, fantastic!, Mod-ern swinger, "Just Add Some Colour" by Immediate, is another top track, "There's A Place" by Small World, continues the quality, "Night & Day", a R&B rocker by Long Tall Shorty, here's another Mod-ern minded powerpopper, "Whenever, Wherever, Whatever" by Mojo, flowing nicely into the Medway sound of The Bresslaws and their top tune, "Backfist Baby", a Mod Radio UK favourite as is, "Supercool, Supercruel" by the Freebooting Profiteers, both tracks have topped our Top 20 chart!, French Modettes, Curlee Wurlee, add a little European cool into the proceedings with, "L`Essence Des Sans", "Keep Your Soul Clean" by Darren J Connett, another 60`s influenced number with a wicked catchy beat, top class! Last Track, "Saturday In Soho" by The Flying Squad, which is a superb Meynell & Bowie inspired ditty.
